my dell pc dvd rom drive is only being registered as a cd rom drive on ubuntu.
here is a copy of the checkbox report, showing it as a cd rom drive
how do i edit this?

solved its self but installing k3b!!

Me either, i have a dvd burner and it show cdrom.. Don't worry because even if it write "cdRom" u can do all the drive can do.. in my case, burn&read CD/DVD of various types..

You don't. It is correct and you have a combo drive.

Have fun exploring and post back with any further queries ... :)

but it won't recognize dvds?
it only reads cd's.
if you look on the screen shot
under storage.cd.rom.dvdram it says false??
