Ubuntu Studio Slowly fading black....Help!!

hi im relatively new in linux but quite for migrating to linux. my problem is that my newly installed ubuntu studio ever so often starts slowly fading black into the screensaver, constantly and cant stop it. this is very annoying. i suppose is a bug but i have no clue how to fix it. i try tweacking with the screensaver and power managment config but no better.
any clues at all??

forgot to add, this is not the grey screen that the system uses to lock when needed.
