I'd like to set up a mail server on my machine - is there a step-by-step instructions on how to set up a mail server for receiving and sending out emails? I also want the mail server to have the ability to pick up POP3 mails from another source.

Is this possible? Could someone help me out there...

thanks!

David

The Ubuntu Linux Bible has pretty good instructions. Where I am it's in the Public Library. I tried it once but I didn't see how it was worth the trouble.

google is your friend in this case, there are plenty of guides out there.

There is also the possibility of installing pretty much a pre-setup one from Zimbra or Axigen.

I would recommend the "Postfix" mail server because "Sendmail" has proven to be not very secure over the years.
This is the homepage - http://www.postfix.org/start.html
It has all the documentation you need.
Good luck!
