I ran across the headline "Novell Linux Survey: What Software Do You Want on Linux?" (http://www.osnews.com/comment.php?news_id=13440) while reading OSNews and it points to an interesting survey from Novell here:

"Need an App to run on Linux? Request it here!" (http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tip/16646.html) with a related piece and some stats here (http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/16798.html).

Related Digg link (http://digg.com/software/Novell_Linux_Survey:_What_Software_Do_You_Want_Por ted_)

A brief quote from the survey page reads, "If you've got any critical applications that you MUST be able to use on Linux, please take a minute to let us know what they are. We'll monitor the submissions to see what the most popular requests are, and do what we can to nudge the vendors in that direction. Together, your voices will count for more than they would separately." Interesting, so will the results of this survey matter? I guess something is better than nothing, right?

In the survey you can select 'other' and specify something other than the choices presented.
