View Full Version : [ubuntu] No gfx drivers?

July 19th, 2009, 04:41 PM
I searched around and didn't quiet see anyone else with this problem.

Anyhow, I recently installed Ubuntu 8.04LTS but during the instillation it kept canceling out because it was trying to detect fdisk 0 (floppy drive). Which I don't have one. I tried disabling it... still no luck. Finally I came across a post that booted the installation off of the command "all_generic_ide" and as a side effect of that I think my gfx drivers are skewed somehow now. I have a Nvidia GTX285 card.... whenever I go to hardware drivers to update the driver.... card doesn't show. I tried doing it manually from the Nvidia website and everything seems to of went through fine.... but I still do not have the Nvidia gfx driver taking over for my video because everything is still glitchy on the video side.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
