here is the log from the command line from trying vlc.

i have libdvd installed on the system, and i've tried playing the disc via vlc, and the vidoe_ts directory. the first error run through is trying to play the disc, the second the directory.

when using movie player, it just crashes when playing the disc.

i have restricted extras, and other dvd libs installed that i can find in the package manager

here is the log

Try these instructions for enabling dvd playback
https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/musicvideophotos/C/video-dvd.html

that did it. i had everything else squared away, except doing that last command line option. that fixed it.

thanks much
