I discovered it today. It a great game but it has a very small community. Hell it's even has an easy .deb install and it seems it's a great FPS

http://legendsthegame.net/

However it seems that almost all the developers have abandoned it. What a waste

Any feedback, any info on this game is appreciated.

If you think legends is good you should play tribes2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribes_2) which it's based off of. Tribes2 was *the* FPS my friends and I played 4-5 years ago or so, it even had a native linux client! Sadly it's pretty much died over the years and even the official online servers have been taken down. The windows client was made freeware (gratis not libre) and can be found as a free download (though not the linux client which is almost impossible to find). It wines flawlessly though and I think there are patches to connect to replacement online servers but it's been awhile since I've played so I don't know.

Thanks a lot for the info. I wonder why these games are dead whilst outers like Cod 2 are still quite active. I mean these seam quite awesome even for this year 2009!!

I guess developing and maintaining such large projects is quite a hard task.

Actually the software publisher (sierra) @#$%ed the game up so much on release they basically killed it and pushed dynamix over the edge from 'barely hanging in there' to 'out of business'. They originally released a *very* buggy beta version on launch that was so bad that the game would often crash just trying to update itself. Even once you got the updater itself patched enough that the updater wouldn't crash anymore it would have to download about 5 different patches (restarting the game between each one) before it would actually be current and playable online (much less stable). It also has *the* steepest learning curve I've ever seen in a FPS so it took quite a bit to get into the game. These are the main reasons I think the game has died out after all these years. Once you get into it though the game absolutely rocks and I often wish other FPS's took some hints from tribes2. Tribes3 was ok but they took out the parts of the game I really like (the strategic/tactical aspects) and the game was basically an aerial FPS deathmatch. The closest thing I can currently find to it is the savage series which is pretty fun but I miss being able to jump into a bomber with a team and nuke the @#$% out of the enemy base. Even the control system I wish other FPS's would base off of tribes2. I still reconfigure my controls for all FPS's I play to mimic the default tribes2 control scheme (including using ESDF rather then WASD) because of the convenience. Seriously, ESDF puts 3 extra keys within reach of the the left side of your hand without losing anything on the right side of your hand.

This really sucks. I found this game so late. I unfortunately has become one of my favorites FPS. I only found 2 players though and only 4 servers, SUCKS GRAN CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, about the learning curve, after about 20 mins of play I already was jumping sky high, not that difficult. I even did I midair :)

Hey is tribes3 also an aerial FPS and active [-o<

I don't know if tribes3 is still active, I played the beta/demo enough to realize it wasn't for me. Tribes3 focused *heavily* on the aerial combat which although is pretty fun did it at the expense of everything else that I liked about tribes. Mostly the ability to provide vital team support through the sensor net and turrets. If you like the aerial combat of tribes2 and don't care about the rest of the game you'll probably like tribes3 but I have no clue on how well it will wine.
