Some users have receipt of forum private message function disabled, but you can send messages to them via email. I recently sent a private message to another member via their email. But I got no confirmation that the message was successfully sent. I wasn't sure if it had sent the message, so I sent it again. Still no acknowledgement.

I find this curious, as this site confirms other actions. I think you should fix this.

Usually getting no message means it sent successfully, with email the error is sent when a message could not be sent?

That's the way it works when you are sending emails as emails, with an email client or a webmail site like gmail. I'm talking about the messaging system of this site, where a user has elected to receive private messages as emails to their private email account.

If you send a standard pm to another member, you get a message confirming that the pm has been sent. This is missing when the pm is sent as an email. The pm I sent was received, but the messaging system was silent on the matter. Which it wouldn't have been if the pm had gone to the user's on-site pm inbox.

I'm sorry for labouring the point, but I fear some people have trouble understanding what I'm saying.

Not sure if this is related, but I've noticed over the last day or so that I'm not getting email notifications of replies to threads I've posted in. I wasn't sure if this was my ISP/email provider, because this has happened before with other email. It seems now that it might be something in the forum software.

Mine is set to NONE as I prefer. You may want to check your settings.

My settings have been set to default to instant notification for a long time. Anyway, I must have spoken too soon, because the notifications are working again.
