Moved to FF&H.

There is no defined path to become an admin on the forums, and indeed I wouldn't spend time worry about how to become one. When new staff (moderators) are needed, they are chosen by the existing staff - there is no application process. When new admins are needed, they are chosen by the ForumCouncil (the current forum admins) and approved by the CommunityCouncil.

We like to call it a "meritocracy." People who are exceptionally kind and helpful end up being chosen to join the staff based on their merits, etc.

You've only been a member of UF since May and already you want to become an administrator? A bit ambitious, aren't we? :p

I thought it was my turn next. I should have known better than to trust jdong's word. He's a cruel mistress.

You mean I've been wearing my conical foil hat, throwing dead cats over my left shoulder only under a waxing gibbous moon in months with "r" in them for eighteen months..........
For Nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That does it. I'm going back to Windows 3.11 workgroups..

:lolflag: I don't see how anybody would truly want to be apart of the staff members, unless you just have a good heart and want to help. It's not like you can make up your own rules and do whatever you want (most of time anyways :P), it's a big responsibility.

Going to pretend you didn't post that...

You've summed it up, though I partially disagree with the first sentence. Sure, we do want to help out, but it's not like we don't have any fun at all (which is what I was hinting at above in terse satire). :)

That's not a bad list of things. But we don't like you, so you'll never get chosen :twisted: ........ OK I'm joking. But as mentioned before the staff suggest possible new staffers, and there's a lot of members to choose from :)

I have something else to add to your list though - report posts where appropriate

Hmm, I think I should become more active on the forums... I'm usually sat on our IRC channels, but I could be doing forum stuff as well.

Don't you also have to thank people for their help, and make people feel like the Forums is a safe place to post questions without losing their "identity" and keeping the integrity of the Forums???

If so.............<swear off windows>

results = Search(kindness)
if results == 'genuinely kind'
for i in results
hire(i)
fi
if results != 'genuinely kind'
goto 0
