Just noticed Ubuntu One under Apps → Internet. Seems pretty neat... Also a folder in your ~/
https://ubuntuone.com/
I think it's worth a try, looks to be integrated nicely.

I HATE the fact that it opens on session start and uses the notification area. Isn't that against the interface guidelines? Weren't the Ubuntu developers striving to clean off the NA, using the indicator applet and stuff?

Is that after first use? I haven't tried it yet so I haven't seen this...
As for the notification area, I think a panel applet would be the most appropriate, not an entry in the indicator applet. Or do you receive some kind of notifications from it?

Yup, works for the first time for me running Karmic...
EDIT
Still a lot of bugs which needs "luv".....

Heh... UbuntuOne kinda sucks because
1. it's not cross-platform
2. it doesn't really work on KDE without pulling in mad dependencies
As of now (and for the foreseeable future), I'm preferring dropbox and the like.

Sorry to hijack the thread but how long does it take to receive an invitation? I have applied last night.

Just sit tight and wait... it takes a while. For now, just get dropbox (http://www.getdropbox.com/)? (if you do, I'd appreciate it if you used my invitation (https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTEyMTM0MTM5), since I'd get more storage that way =p)

i believe that this version is not the one they will ship in Karmic. AFAIK they will move the icon to either indicator applet or in a separate applet. But i for one don't mind having it in the notification area. It looks really neat when it's syncing.

I am using it right now and I agree, I don't see anything difference between this and using Dropbox. It's well implemented into Ubuntu, of course, and way easy to install right now. Yet, what's the one thing that will put Ubuntu One over Dropbox? I right now cannot see it.

Syncing your contacts, email, settings, desktop screen sharing...
Who knows what else. Imagine one day when you reinstall ubuntu on another computer and simply sync all of your applications and their settings. It's going to rock.

Sorry to hijack the thread but how long does it take to receive an invitation? I have applied last night. It can take a while. I had signed up for a month with nothing, so went onto the IRC channel and a dev let me in. :) I did then report two bugs, so I think it was a fair trade. ;)

I applied last friday (17th) and today my invite came (20th), so pretty fast action, time to test it...

This is an outstanding service tailored to Ubuntu desktops. This is a value added service that is a good way for Canonical to obtain revenue streams to keep Ubuntu developing.
Well done.
