Hello people, new user here. I'm trying to install and run the original Command and Conquer: Red Alert game on my machine. Its a Dell Inspiron 6000, probably from mid 2005? I think I am running the latest version 9.0.4, but I don't really know much else. I found out that I needed to install Wine, which I have done. I also understand that after downloading the .iso files, I need to either burn them to CD's or take a crash course in terminal and mount the images as "fake" drives. Well I chose to burn the cd's. I found out that I need to use this command in terminal once Wine detects the disc in the drive:
wine d:\setup.exe
So I did and the install screen came up briefly, but then a little pop up box said that the game only runs on Windows 95 and I have Windows 5.1? (I don't know what that means, but apparently it won't play regardless).
So I am wondering what I need to do, in order to trick the game into thinking I am indeed running Win95.
Any thoughts would be very helpful.
Thanks!
