hello,
i'm planning on buying a vostro 1520 and i wanted to know wether it works with jaunty or not. especially
can you operate it with a second monitor?
does the geforce work well in ubuntu or should i keep my hands off this one
is wifi okay
i would be very happy if you could post me your experiences thanks!

The vostros 1520 is not a bad computer as long as you get a decent graphic card such as the option geforce that you can get with it, unless you enjoy lower end resolution (1280x800). A monitor can be used too, but as I found out this morning, it doesnt play well with the default graphic card that comes with the vostro 1520 (intel integrated crap). The wifi works fine too. I'm just dissapointed of the low quality of the intel card....

Disregard the last post, i found a solution to the bad resolution : The xorg.conf generated at the installation was not properly generated. I loaded a livecd and used the xorg.conf from there by transfering it to a usb stick. The other issue i've found was the sound. I have yet to figure out why the headphones do not mute the speakers when i plug them in... but that's a minor annoyance

thanks for your feedback - i was doubting because i read about some issues here and working with a second monitor is essential for me
