i been programming for 2 years now, and although im comfortable with programming i have to say that i still feel like i am a beginner. im just wondering how long have some of you been programming for. my goal is to one day have the knowledge that most of you have. for now im just enjoying the process of learning something new each day.

i started in 3rd grade, i was in the math club yep lol. we had an apple IIc that we'd write stupid basic programs on. 15 years later i still know very little and make way too many mistakes. hopefully 15 years from now i'll be one of the best. :p

The only thing is to keep practicing, reading, and talking to other programmers. I know this sounds kind of generic, but it's the truth. The best way I've learned really advanced programming techniques is from talking to people and reading various books. The benefit of both is seeing how people apply algorithms to solve different problems. There is usually someone who has already spent the time to work out the kinks for any programming problem that may come up. The trick is learning how to piece these algorithms and techniques together to solve your particular solution.
