There are numerous posts about the failures of vmware Tools (in vmware Server 2 and other vmware product brandings) to fully install correctly on "guests" running various flavors of Ubuntu. There are also a few patches offered by helpful posters who've encountered the various issues. But I'm reluctant to fool with patches because I've seen them have a nasty tendency to almost-but-not-quite-work.... kinda like vmware Tools, actually. And it'd be easier for me to just grab a previous version of Ubuntu, anyway.
So, my question: Has it ever actually worked without error, without patching, on any version of Ubuntu?
