Hi,

I am completely new to Ubuntu or to Linux platforms as such.
I need to setup a server to support 42 windows xp based client machines.

Though, I am unsure how to go about installing the same and am also unsure if Ubuntu server supports major windows based server features, such as:

Remote User Logins/Authentication
Active Directory
Internet Sharing (limited requirement based usage)
Email Server
Network Administration
etc, just to name a few.

I wish to understand, Does Ubuntu server matches my requirements?
Also, is there a user friendly server enviornment that I can load, so that it is easier to operate later?

I visited a few help websites, but could hardly understand anything as everything seems to be done using codings. If it is required to operate this server using codings everytime, it becomes a very difficult option.
Can anyone suggest some better user friendly versions or server os?

hi,

thanks for ur help...

is there a more user friendly version available somehow?
also why everything seems to be as if we are doing some program coding all the time?

BTW, i wasn't aware that using bigger fonts isn't allowed on this forum;)

it would be tough to do everything via GUI..you would need to use commands and work..also read about LDAP..
