This message shows up very, very often since the forum went down:
The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.
So, I think "...and hope everything will run smooth from this point forward" is not yet the case ;)
A lot of people visit this forum. That's good.
I hope that the server gets up to speed with the growing popularity.
Anyway, I appreciate what you are doing and am confident that it will be solved.

In this case, we're receiving exploit attacks - not much we can do about it.

Start disallowing the IP's from which the exploits are originating. If they're are going to attempt to exploit these awesome forums, screw 'em. Have the server/router drop packets from thos IP's.

Yeah, the forums gave a 404 for a while this afternoon. Other than that they give the too busy warning until after 10:00PM today. Who would want to attack Ubuntu Forums? Good luck server admins! We know your doing the best you can.
About the exploit attack, is it some kind of denial of service?

What about increasing the search time limit to 30 seconds or something like that? Noticebly speeded up the forum i administrate at least.
