Hey all. I've been playing around with a semi-custom KDE build. Basically I took an ubuntu minimal cd and installed kde-core and then added what I liked. It looks fantastic and it runs great, but I have one major beef.

My gtk based apps (I only have a few that I use frequently) look like rubbish. They are using a default disgusting theme that looks like it belongs in windows 3.1 or something. Anyway, I wondering if there is a way to configure gnome themes from within kde. I don't need them to look like KDE apps. I just need to be able to get rid of the ancient looking default theme.

Thanks.

As a sidenote, I really like Gnome as well. The problem is that whenever I install the NVIDIA drivers from repos or their website, I get weird bugs like my windows opening with nothing in them. They are just blank windows. Anyway, I don't have this problem with kde. Might be something Compiz related?

Hard to say you have a basic KDE build the question is what do you have and not have?

I know if I go to system settings - appearance - colors - options

that it gives the the option to apply all KDE color themes to non KDE apps

Yes that is enabled by default on my kde install. I'll post a screenshot in a second so you can see what I mean.

Again, I'm perfectly fine with gnome themes in my kde. I'm just not okay with whatever that default theme is.

You need GTK-QT. It is the repo.
