Hi all,

i migrated from windows to Linux and i have just installed Ubuntu Jaunty Edition.

I wanna know about the architecture of this OS and how can i develop programs or how can i contribute to the development that is going on in the background. i will be glad to know what IDEs i can use to develop applications that run on Linux platform and more things of that sort.

i know a little bit of C/C++ and i am familiar with asp,as.net,c#.

I suggest Python as it's installed with pretty much every distribution and easy to learn. I'd also suggest just using a text editor such as gedit instead of an IDE. If you want an IDE for python programming then Stani's Python Editor or IDLE are pretty popular.

You can continue with C or C++ also, but I don't program with those languages and so I can't advise.
