Since Linux and opensource is the thing for me I searched the internet for possibilites to install Linux on my 5th Generation iPod. But bad news for me, it doesn't works. Numerous sites indicate that it doesn't work (yet).
I was wondering, why doesn't it work. Though it is a new generation it's still just a colour LCD with a harddrive. What's so different about this model. It is possible to install Linux on a Apple Nano, but not on a video.
The funny thing is... 'always trying' I got it to boot Podzilla! I saw the icons appear and it works for like two to five seconds but after that... it reboots.
Has anybody else tried it so far or has anyone heared about upcoming support for the 5th generation ipods?

Perhaps it will eventually work; since it's new hardware the developers probably haven't messed enough with it.

It probably has to do with the firmware on the 5th gen. I'm not sure though.
May I ask why you want to install podzilla? Perhaps you can do what you want to do on the stock software and you just haven't run across how...

The stock software is superb without a doubt. The reason why I want to run Podzilla is just pure for fun and hobby. Almost all my computers are running Linux and to make it complete I hope I can do the same with my Palm and iPod.

I can certainly appreciate that reason!
