Steven_at, was kind enough to mention the possibility, in another post, of installing GUI on the Server for development. Is that possible? I mean, can I install GUI for development and then turn it off for performance reasons when the server goes on-line? (Then back on again for maintenance).

If this is possible, can I get the reader's digest version of how to do it?

Thanks,

SteveJ

Hmm, I feel that I must be asking the question wrong or something. As flexible as Ubuntu is in its ability to change GUI environments, I just can't believe that there isn't a way to turn the GUI off entirely.

I can't imagine that I'm the only one that would like to do their PHP development with GUI tools on the Server, but then turn the GUI off later.

Thanks,

SteveJ
