Hi,

I have a dell latitude D630 with windows xp and ubuntu on. I got it with ubuntu 8.10, but when 9.04 came out I upgraded and since then it has constantly crashed, its probably abvout every 10 minutes at the moment, so cant really use it with ubuntu. At first I thought this was wireless related but have checked out the posts on here about them, and I have the correct proprietry driver installed. I have struggled trying to get this sorted for a couple of months before deciding to post, so please help! The option I choose in grub is 9.04, kernel 2.6.28-13-generic. I have attatched my syslog.

Is there a secret to getting people to help you on here then?? Please offer some help, even if it is just vague pointers of what I can look at, I really dont know where to start!

Hi!

I have d630 and it works perfectly. It could be upgrading problem. Try to reinstall ubuntu and it should be fine.

PS: don't forget to backup documents and other stuff in case you don't have /home mount point.

Good luck

ditto, my D630 works better in 9.04 than any previous version (namely suspend/resume finally works!).

Unfortunately it is going to be really hard to get help when posting a vague problem even if it is very serious. Try to see if you can isolate exactly what causes the crash. Also launchpad would be a better place for getting help and has guidelines for exactly what logs you need.

Or alternately just reinstall since most other D630 users have no problems (although hardware does vary between models).

Good luck.
