My Laptop info: Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU 575 @ 2.00GHz (architecture: x64; 1994 MHz) Name: Genuine Intel(R) CPU 575 @ 2.00GHz Manufacturer: GenuineIntel Max clock speed: 1994 MHz Architecture: x64 Level 2 cache size: 1024 KB Socket type: CPU Version: Model 15, Stepping 13 Physical memory: 986.4 MB Can anyone tell me which version of ubuntu 9.04 do i need to download??? IS it 32 bit version or 64 bit version??? PLZ HELP

32bit version is probably the best. Unless you have at least 4GB or RAM, 64bit is really kinda pointless and more of a headache than it's worth.

Thanks for ur reply Unlimitedz,but according to system requirements RAM needed is just 384MB so i believe 1gb shud be sufficient enough.. And thanks for ur suggestion...

You won't notice an increase in performance, as there won't be much, if you're using less than 4GB of RAM with a 64bit Operating System. You can install it and it may work fine for you, but generally 64bit is often harder to get working with all your hardware components, which is why I said it's more of a headache than it's worth if you don't have at least 4GB of RAM.

I don't know what "issues" above poster might be referring to, but I've not had a single significant issue with installing, or running, a 64-bit distro since somewhere around Feisty Fawn.
