I plan on getting a sound card in the next month, however, I'm not sure which one to get. My current hardware is:
intel core i7 920
6gb ddr3 ram
radeon 4890
asus p6t mobo
ubuntu 9.04 64-bit and windows xp 32-bit
Do you guys have any ideas? I'm looking at the Asus Xonar DX, but I see that has some problems with ubuntu 64 bit 8.04. Do those problems remain with ubuntu 9.04? Do you guys have any other suggestions for sound cards that do work? Also, do you guys know any good headphones?

I tend to buy those old SB Audigy cards from Creative labs when I need a good soundcard in linux. I have a box of used ones so I don't have to go looking for them anymore.

So many of the newer audio chipsets are just buggy with currant drivers.
Of course, there may be a great new sound card out there with 100% awesome linux drivers, but those older Audigy cards work so well I've never bothered to look very hard.

Ok, but I am also going to be using the card for gaming in windows. In fact, my current onboard sound is perfectly fine for linux, but I need a better card for gaming, and would like it to also work with linux.
