View Full Version : [ubuntu] 9.04 Jaunty WPA

Hey all, long time Windows user and beginner Linux user. I recently moved up from Linux Mint 6 to Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope, and I'm having some trouble getting WPA encryption enabled. I've installed WPA Supplicant (rather, it was already pre-installed, but oddly not configured, can anyone shed light on that?) and I'm having trouble getting the Gnome Network Manager to recognize the WPA encryption. I'm following the instructions in this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=263136) how-to, and at steps 5 and 6 (getting WPA Supplicant to load on boot), my /etc/network/interfaces looks totally different than the one shown in the guide. This is what the how-to shows:

iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.15
netmask 255.255.255.0
wireless-essid my_essid
gateway 192.168.1.1

This is what I've got:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

Any help would be greatly appreciated. FYI, I used ndisgtk to configure the Realtek RTL8187B driver on my Trendnet TEW-424UB. Here's my ifconfig:
