When I try to install Ubuntu Server 9.04 on my compaq pc it tells me to use the correct kernel for my cpu... I'm not sure how to do this or what it means. I do know that the computer has a Pentium 4, but when I go to download the .iso from the website it says it's downloading the amd64 computer platform version... Would this be my problem?

Yes
You need Intel.

Thank you! How do I get the intel version, as when I go download it I don't get the option to choose? It just automatically chooses the amd64 version for me.

32bit version

It's set to 64 by default.
