Dear all,

I tried copying all the files from the installation iso onto my thumbdrive but it boots into a command page GRUB?, not sure of the terminology where as if i used a CD it boots into a graphical interface.

Reason I need to use a USB is that i intend to install it on a netbook, just burning to a CD to ensure that the iso is working.

Please advise.

Thanks to all :D

There's more to making a USB flash drive bootable than just copying the files. The easiest way to do it is to use UNetBootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) or the usb-creator tool (http://www.pendrivelinux.com/ubuntu-810-install-using-the-built-in-usb-installer/) on the Live CD. If you are dead-set on rolling your own, these instructions (http://www.pendrivelinux.com/usb-ubuntu-804-persistent-install-from-linux/) should give you a starting point.
