Not to worry as I understand In one month our contract is up and we are moving to a server given to us by the Canonical

EDIT: Canonical is giving us a server not the CC

Hmmmm after a year and change of being online with relatively few issues... a two day hiatus does not equal regular happenings to me...

In this case, it was a hardware failure.

Any chance of setting up an ubuntuforums mirroring package so other ubuntu server operators can offer a few gigs per month of bandwidth to alleviate the official servers?

Actually this has been going on for alot more than a couple of days. At least in the U.K. it has. It seems like good news that you may be using different hosting. Everybody I turn on to Linux lately I start them with Ubuntu. When these forums are down they are kinda stuck, And lately that is becoming regular.
Its not your fault I know, But Ubuntu is becoming extremely popular, These forums are really needed by some, maybe the suggestion of a mirror isn't a bad one.
To us folks that understand Linux, a couple of hours downtime is nothing, To someone migrating from a windows box, any downtime for the forum usually equals downtime for their boxes.
Kinda shows just how important these forums have become. Other than the hosting/downtime these forums are number one . :)

Ya I think we have had about a weeks worth of problems. And I dont think anyone is complaining at all, Infact I Rackerz, was thanking you with his 'Yah :)'.

That being said they have been down a fair about latley IMO and thats all it is is an oppinion, kassetra I dont think you should feel for a second that anyone is being blamed no one can be blamed for the problems it just sucks.

But then after another month of our current hosting service I understand that the CC Is giving us a computer to host the forums on and thats great.

I dont think that anyone should take this as anything but praise.

NOTE: UG made a post at 7 EST which makes me think that he was up at 7 in the morining, that boys and girls is dedication!

Yeah. Last week has been a bitch...
It cant have something to to with the change from >>RED HAT<< to bsd on the server? ;) Just a rumour i heard.

But seriously, biggie thanks for getting it up. :D

Didn't they use to run bsd before? They are running centOS now, as far as I know:

Yeah we were running bsd, when the machine was rebuilt freebsd wasnt an option for a few reasons we went with centos. Ubuntu is not an option unless we pay.

The forums will be moved in 2 months to probably ubuntu once canonical gets the server for us and our contract ends with our current provider.

I know it's an opinion, I was merely adding appropriate context.

But then after another month of our current hosting service I understand that the CC Is giving us a computer to host the forums on and thats great. The 'CC' is not who is extending a server to us; we are receiving a new server from Canonical. :p

Is there anything I can do to help in the mean time?? I just don't know what to do with myself when the forums are unavailable. (somewhat true--somewhat tongue-in-cheek)...Yikes!!!!

I appreciate everyones comments we have one server here that acts as the main forum server when there are issues it does suck as we have no fall back.

Yeah, this is the third time in a year we have had an issue to this extent. And when we get a quality server meant for server type loads in the next month or two from canonical one can only hope slowness and outages will not be an issue.

One thing to keep in mind this forum has grown at a crazy rate and growing pains are part of every business/forum/whatever it does suck but bouncing back 10x better is even more fun.

So, sorry for outages I personally worked this weekend countless hours getting the forums back online. So I encourage everyone to enjoy them and lets not turn this thread into some kind of un-needed bash fest.

Point taken, Just wanted to make sure you knew I was only saying good things about the people that worked to get it up, Just saying it did suck that they where down.

The 'CC' is not who is extending a server to us; we are receiving a new server from Canonical. :p
Will chage my post then, Thanks :)

Im still very happy :), and In my OP, I only sang the praise of everyone who worked so hard to get it working. Computers die thats life, Mine died this summer and I was off the forums for about a month.

What's up with 'New Posts'
This forum requires that you wait 15 seconds between searches. Please try again in 10008 seconds.

I got that message about 30-45 minutes after I last looked at new post's.

I personally thank you, I can image how much work that can be and how frustrating it is when things don't work.

But now it works, so let's all be happy! :-)
