I downloaded it off the Wine website. And when I opened the file it downloaded, an archive just came up then I was lost from there.

If you actually expect a decent answer we need more details, I recommend rewriting this post.

EDIT: Post errors etc.

There are no errors. Nothings wrong. I just don't know how to install it. I downloaded it and I completed clueless. When I try to type in wine in terminal it says its not installed, which I know for a fact it isn't.

Don't you prefer installing it from the package manager?

sudo apt-get install wine

uninstall wine and download a deb from wineHQ (http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/index.html) and install it you'll need gkdebconfig from synaptic if you haven't installed it then it's really easy to install

What version of Ubuntu are you using? All current versions of Ubuntu already have Wine 1.0.1 in the regular Ubuntu repository, so all you should need to do is run "sudo apt-get install wine". However, if you have already taken the extra step of adding the WineHQ repository, then it will take precedence over the Ubuntu repository and install the latest and greatest Wine (currently 1.1.25).

OH. SO if I delete the repos I added into the Software Sources, it wont be 1.1.25?
