last night i installed unreal 2004 with the Editiors choice expansion(downloaded), CP1, CP2-1, CP2-2 and the latest patch and it runs flawlessly.

i also installed warcraft 3 the frozen throne via cedega, yet again, flawlessly.

i also install neverwinter nights plus the two expansions and patched to the latest versions and yet again, flawless(well actually one hiccup caused by me).

anyways, if anyone is interested in howtos let me know.

oh right, and the games looks great and perform great as well. i am getting very good FPS counts on all the games.

oh and i also got slune, tuxkart, tuxracer, neverball and chromium installed from universe and they work great too.

Maybe instead of asking people if they want howto's, post to the wiki page and then they're there for future refernce should someone come along a few months down the line and need them ? Just an idea.

Welcome to the Linux gamer's club ! I tend to agree there is probably no need for a howto, as installing these games is quite easy. Of course there are the usual snags that some people hit, but nothing that you can't figure out in a couple of minutes. For example, one general pitfall with many games installers is that at the end of instalation it offers if you want to start the game ( a la windows style installers), and usually you say yes, right ? Wrong!!!! the installer runs as root, but you don't want to run the game as root as this causes lots of problems (crashes, etc). So the tip here is to tell the installer to ext, and afterwards run the game normally from the menu or command line. My point is that these sorts of things don't require a howto.

UT2004 is my favorite multiplayer game, and it runs great on my 6800 ultra, at 1280x1024 and all detail settings maxed out ! Rock on

I must be doing something wrong, I've tried every thing to tweak the game, (UT 2004) but the first five secons when I join a sever the game lags like mad and the sounds has alot of shuttering noice, this then continues every 2 - 5 seconds.

If anyone could fix this I would be happy :)

Did you turn off your firewall ? I noticed that I get disconnected after 2-5 seconds of connecting to a server if the firewall (firestarter) is running. btw, does it work ok in single player mode ?

No firewall that I know off (unless its hidden somewhere, but I didn't install one)

And yes, singleplayer has the same shutterings, even aginst 1 bot.

Just wondering what kernel you are using? I know it sounds wierd but ever since I updated my UT3k4 has not worked. I think I'll try booting to previos kernel.

Sounds like a slow machine, maybe you should try with lower resolution and detail levels

Its not slow, it runs of my xp boot fine. and I have disabled alot of eye candy to see if it was that.

when i try and do a install of frozen throne cedega cant find the wc3 install and in turn cannot install itself. i would love to know if there is a solution to this. transgaming's forums kinda suck.
