Drivers for dvdr/cdr on Macbook?

My dvdr/cdr is not burning using the default burning program. Do I need to install special dvdr/cdr drivers with Ubuntu to make this work? It's the default dvdr drive that came w/the Macbook.

All help would grealtly be appreciated!
