View Full Version : [ubuntu] VNC Problems

July 3rd, 2009, 08:07 PM

im currently running ubuntu 8.10 desktop, and am using the remote desktop software to successfully connect to other devices on my local area network without problems. Although when trying to connect over the Internet through a browser I am unsuccessful.

The remote desktop software has been set up correctly i'm sure, as well as my firewall and router to allow through the VNC connection on the specified port to enable remote desktop control although a problem still exists.

When trying to access the host machine though a web browser, the following web page and text is displayed:

'RFB 003, 007' (in the top left hand corner of the page)

Does anybody know what this means?? I've looked about on the internet and have seen certain articles on something about a 'Java VNC Applet'. Could this be anything to do with my problem or is this just another form of VNC technology not linked to the ubuntu remote desktop software??

Any help would be much appreciated.
