Hi... I have a dell mini 9 with 8.04 on it. Dell's setup does not seem to allow upgrades via Internet so I'm trying to clean install 9.04 to upgrade. I have the actual live disc of 9.04 that I had ordered (it's not a download) and I know it is good because I have installed it on 2 other computers that I own.
Anyway, upon booting up with it using an external drive on my mini I get the error message...
""E: Unable to locate any package files, perhaps this is not a Debian Disc."
Huh??

Consider just using a USB flash drive with the NBR img file.
I suspect your error is related to how the Mini recognises the external DVD drive from BIOS.

Thank you! Where would be a good place to purchase one of those? I do not currently have one.

Where in the world do you live?
In the UK, they are sold at most newsagents and supermarkets, but are available cheaper from specialist IT suppliers (especially online).
1GB is enough, but you may like to buy something bigger for future use.

I live in America. Online would be the best for me. I asked bc a google search popped up "many many" places and types. I want to be sure the one I purchase is compatible, since the external drive I just bought off ebay (what a waste of money that was) is obviously not. :(

Any and all USB flash drives will work fine.
Your USB drive you bought should work OK once the OS is correctly installed.
