Would it be possible to have a more feature packed bittorrent client one that can handle multiple torrents at one time.
The client provided lacks and azureus isn't gtk based nor is it easy for folk to install.
Nothing springs to mind when talking about linux gui torrent clients but when we talk about windows they have a number of good clients such as bitcomet and utorrent.
Having a good client will certainly increase the user experience making it more enjoyable one of the most talked about things in the linux community is good bittorrent client.

Slightly puzzled, as most of the clients available handle multiple torrents. Which ones have you looked at? Try a search in Synaptic (name and description) for torrent and see what turns up.
Azureus -- many people would say it's worth the effort of installing Java (which is the biggest pain) just so as to be able to use Azureus.
PS. Automatix installs both BitTornado and Azureus very easily.

Freeloader is nice, although it doesn't remember your torrents between restarts though

You have gnome-btdownload but as you've already noticed you have to keep your .torrent files or download them again to resume.
We need something light and simple, preferably to use together with gnome-btdownload
I've just added request for better default BitTorrent client to IdeaPool (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IdeaPool#head-c080c286f26508d8226d028d1e725ea76100a3f0)

I prefer the Official Bittorrent Client (http://www.bittorrent.com).
Which allows to resume the torrent later, and also multiples torrents can be downloaded at the same time. And it's simple and light :)

Try ktorrent - you'll have to install the kde libs and stuff, but you'll soon see that it was well worth it.

You might want to get the svn versions, though - they have a lot more features than in the previous release.

.
Azureus, horrible interface as it is, has been ported to gcj - it's in Fedora Extras, I'm sure someone would be able to make it run under Dapper with a lot of gcj patching to bring it up to GCC4.1 level of functionality.
I could post screenshots of it running, but I'll leave that to the Red Hat guy who actually did the work.

The official bittorrent client version 4 has been canned by debian legal.

ktorrent is unusable on my system (Kubuntu Breezy). The window freezes and won't redraw.
