Hello there.

My dvd burner seemed to work ok on Hardy. Since upgrading to jaunty I have had problems burning iso files to dvd. Eg. I have an "official" xubuntu jaunty iso, which passes the md5sum test against the hash provided by the server, and the dvd does not; I run "cat /dev/dvd |md5sum" and get a different hash. (I am not sure if this is due to formatting, or what.)

Brasero always points out that one or more files on the disc are corrupted after the burn. They don't boot or don't work properly.

I have tried different commands I found on howto pages, and don't know whats wrong. Any ideas?

Probably your drive got borked. What brand is it? It's not uncommon for DVD drives to "just fail", a few years back i've had someone's laptop DVD drive fail entirely right after reinstalling Windows. Maybe it wanted open source software. :P

Hmm.

After turning my box into a coaster factory, the burner finally decided to work. I've made several good discs in a row now. Maybe it was a problem affecting some of the discs in the stack. Go figure.
