I'm moving my music collection from my windows desktop to my newest ubuntu installation, but I have a large amount of windows media playlists, custom ratings, etc stored on the windows computer. Is there a way to transfer all my song ratings, wmp playlists, etc into exaile songbird media player? Thanks in advance!

Apparently, wmp stores its ratings in a proprietary format within its configuration settings, so you can't extract them. The playlists, however, can be read by a bunch of other media players if you convert them to .m3u.

What if you burn them onto a CD, and then from there wait to get onto UBuntU, then upload the songs.. Is that possible?

Sure, it's possible, but I'm not talking about transferring the music. I'm talking about transferring the ratings, and WMP doesn't use ID3 tags to store them. It does this in a proprietary format, so the ratings aren't transferred with the music.
