I just got a Nokia E63 phone last week. The nokia website lists it as having MTP support (http://nds2.nokia-asia.nokia.com/find-products/products/nokia-e63/technical-specifications) but amarok does not detect the phone when it is in "media transfer mode" nor does mtp-detect list any devices. Is there anything I can do?

UPDATE: just been looking through some sites. tried running sudo mtp-detect and it does detect the phone. but how can I detect it as nonroot?

Nobody?
I basically need to know how I can access my Nokia through MTP without being root. MTP-detect sees the device if I'm root but it doesn't if I'm not. Which means I'd have to run amarok as root to use my nokia, which I think is probably dangerous? I heard running programs as root often is dangerous.

Hi not sure if this is resolved, but I just found something that may help. I found this from the external section of wikipedia entry for Media Transfer Protocol. The following is about connecting zen player to linux with MTP, but may also help with E63.
