Hey Guys,

I've been using 8.04 for awhile havent really had the urge to upgrade but figured i might as well get up to the latest rev.

Im currently using a 500GB drive for my /root and /home directories.

So what I'd like to do is do a fresh install on TWO 300 Gig drives that I plan on creating a RAID1 set.

Whats the best way to most easily transition my data to the raid set.

How do I install Ubuntu on a RAID 1. Do i install on one drive then clone it or something? I dont have a hardware raid, just what my BIOS gives me privy to which from what i've read is pseudo hardware RAID.

Also, even though i have my /home as a seperate partition wont I lose some programs? For example my ssh config isnt in my home partion amongst other things.

Anyhow, just looking for a good direction to get started in doing a clean upgrade but having all the same apps/data i have on my current system.
