Removing KDE

I installed KDE desktop environment using Synaptic Packet Manager
Now I want to remove KDE and i tried to followed the instructions from
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=263960

But I get an error message like
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
