OS has been running just fine on a Dell Dimension 8100 since the 9.04 release date two months ago.
This morning, after shutting it down to do some other stuff, I re-booted and, with the BIOS about 3/4 loaded, the progress bar froze and there was a continuous squeally sound coming from the computer. Sounded electronic rather than mechanical.
I panicked, hit the power button, it re-booted and did the same thing. Pulled out the plug, re-booted, same again. I tried a third time, same, but hit F2 and F12 and got the question where to boot from. I said HD (or #4 or whatever looked like it made sense) and the OS loaded just fine and has been working problem-free for the past 10 hours.
Your thoughts? What's going on???
I appreciate your help.
