Saving GIMP Tool Options

Hi

There's an option in the GIMP preferences dialog, 'Save Tool Options on exit'.

Does this work for anyone, because it doesn't work for me!

It's quite annoying that each time I open it I have lost the brush and tool I was using. Ok it's only slightly annoying but I'm confused why these don't get saved.

Some other attributes of the tool are saved, but not which tool I was using nor its size.

I'd be interested to hear if this works for anyone!

Hey,
Works fine for me. How do you close the program... you should use ctrl-q on the keyboard or select file:quit. Closing windows to quit programs does not always give the program a chance to properly save settings.

Also, ensure that your settings are being written to /home/username/.gimp2.x and not the root /usr/share/gimp/

thanks for your input. unfortunately it wasn't the things you suggested but I was encouraged enough to explore further and I found another option, on the Input Devices part of the preferences, where there's also an option to save settings on exit. Once this one was checked then settings were remembered correctly.
