hello,
I was wondering if there was an applet out there that would comunicate with ubuntu forums like a chat client, it would just mean faster replyies or making the forums more interactive.
am not sure if this is possible, but if anyone has any ideas do let me know, It would be great to have an applet or so, in ubuntu that is specific to ubuntu forums, so your always connected.
i will make a shot of how it might look.

I see, the problem with the IRC stuff is it does not get recoded into the forums, i was just thinking of a way that might improve the ubuntu forums, and allow them to grow faster,
so if your in ubuntu and the applet/application is running, then replies to your posts would show up as chat like summaries

The problem is that this is not supposed to be a chat. Ubuntu has lots (and lots) of irc channels if you want to chat with ubuntu users -- this is not the same thing on the web, this is a forum.
A forum is a place for well-considered posts, and benefits alot from its searchability; a part of this is that the posts made by all members should be in some way complete, well-formulated pieces of a thread.
So.. you may have heard this before in any forum: "This forum is not a chatroom". Keep that in mind.

#ubuntuforums rocks...
yeah, that would be totally pointless to have a "chat client" for ubuntuforums..
