Making an ubuntu application.

Dear Peoples,
I am trying to make an ubuntu application (not a launcher). I am using c++ and OpenGL/GLUT. I have tried many IDEs but i can't find one which will turn my source code into an application. Please Help.

After doing some research and playing around I found that applications are really just
shell or some other type of script that runs and the "application"from the menu is just a
launcher. So how could I change the icon of the launcher from the springboard to my
own custom picture?

Wow, I just keep on answering my own questions. When you look at the properties for the launcher, click the springboard icon up in the top-right and move to whatever directory your picture is in and select your picture. Then whenever you look at it from the drop down menu, it will have the picture you selected beside it. Thank you for all you help everybody.
