Hi everybody

A friend of mine is interested in trying Ubuntu.

He is a songwriter and does a lot of simple audio recordings and video work.

He is concerned that his Lexicon Alpha audio interface and/or his Microsoft vx-6000 webcam won't work with Ubuntu.

Has anybody out there had any experience with either of these pieces of hardware? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well a google search of "Lexicon Alpha Linux" turned up this chap claiming Ubuntu Studio has his Lexicon Alpha working great: http://ardour.org/node/1060

and a google search of "Microsoft VX-6000 Linux" turned up this very old ubuntuforums thread that ends in some people having success with that camera (but earlier posts complaining of difficulties): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=232751

Toss your friend a Live CD to see if his hardware works.
