why upgrade to linux? when you could get an OS 1000000 times better. this OS is called Windows Vista. All of Vista's problems are fixed now. Opinions without facts means nothing. There is a time to use windows and a time to use linux. For most things the average user does, it doesn't matter what their choice is. They need internet access, email, photo storage and cataloging, light word processing and some home finance. This can all be accomplished with both OS's. The difference, Linux is free, more secure and rewards those with a desire to explore.

Powerful video editing systems in Hollywood are done on linux. I seriously doubt that they are not using machines that far exceed the capability of your system which just shows that linux is adaptable.

What you say is just ignorant and troll-ish. If you don't like linux you're free to use whatever you want. Quit stiring the pot and post/chat/talk to people that share your interests. Leave us to enjoy what we like.

my 7 year old daughter dual boots windows xp & linux and she sees how much more responsive her Jaunty is compared to Windows. Her words : " daddy Linux goes fast!" :)

I'm sorry but something is simply not adding up there.

But use what works for you... When you get done scanning for viruses of course. And ad-ware. And Trojans. Oh and cleaning your Registry. And defragging your hard drive and deciphering cryptic error messages like "STOP 0x0000007F (UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP)" for but one example.

Ha ha ha another MS troll, your machine is crud, stick to Winbloze. AMD sucks big time and so does ATI, can't even come with a decent driver for videos, has file transfer issues.You boast about your hardware, I would have understood if it was a i7 or dual quad core Intel with Nvidia GeForce2xx.
