I have gone through many help pages and read through the first 4 pages of Google, and yet i still can not fix my no sound problem.

I have built the alsa drivers and installed pulse audio sound server I have also turned up all my volume controls.

Ubuntu sees the creative labs sb live! dell sound card and i have the right alsa driver installed.

Sound works on windows.

I was excited to get and use linux and was going to make it my prrimary operating system with XBMC for my hometheater but with no sound I am afraid I might have to switch back to Windows.

Any help is much apreciated.
Thank you, Moltof

Have you tried reinstalling Jaunty? How about checking available items for installation on the Hardware Drivers?

(Yes I know BUMP, but isn't this a valid reason  )

Hello, I have a Dell 8300 and I (think) have the same problem.

The only thing I can see under "Hardware Drivers" is a nvidia graphics card driver,
sound does work in 8.10 but the wifi is finicky so I switched to Jaunty.
