I think ubuntu is a great OS and it got me obssessed with recruiting my freinds and ppl i meet if we ever get into computers. I started using Ubuntu this year around Feb with 8.10, it was a good OS but behind and it lagged features 9.04 has fixed currently. One thing I'm dissapointed about is my SiS 741 card since no one has any idea how to get 3D m/s^2 with it.

Because i loke games and other useless software i had to go back to windows;) I don't know the beef many ppl have with it but lots of it comes from Linux programming users. But i really had no beef with windows. Ubuntu is great but its too plain for me but i won't leave it.

In ten years time yes Linux will be famous but right now lets not suffer with #3rd grade and use #1st grade as its available to us. Lets milk microsoft PPL!!!:D

It already has surpassed Windows. I saw it happen in 2006. Others might say that it surpassed Windows earlier than that. I don't know what you mean by "When will it surpass Windows", I'm sorry.

If possible, you should swap out that SiS graphics card for something a bit more mainstream (Nvidia or ATI). You'll get much better performance on any operating system, and much better Linux compatibility.

I like games too - I have a Wii for that. If I have a couple of free minutes on my machine I fire up one of the numerous time-waster games available for Linux, like Crack Attack, Sauerbraten, X-moto, Frets On Fire etc.

I agree, let's not suffer third-grade - let's use Linux. I really don't see anything "first-grade" about Windows; it runs games that have been written for it, big whoop?

I can see. Malware, spyware, viruses. The best of them work only with windows and microsoft calls it innovation and user-friendly.

I voted in 10 years because I thought it was about market share. If we talk about the OS, Linux has passed windows before 2006.

I hope it doesn't become very popular. I like the small friendly community.

No thank you. Use windows if you like, but it's not my cup of tea.

Too plain for you? How do you think it's too plain? You can customize every aspect of it! You don't have install any third party applications to change themes. You don't need third party programs to make your own icons or anything as well. You can add panels anywhere you want, and have certain things display. The "sidebar" is way better as well. Screenlets is awesome. It's sleek, it's smooth, it's not buggy. Too plain? I think you need to do some more exploring.

I'd not say it surpassed it. Linux is not Windows...yet.

I can see. Malware, spyware, viruses. The best of them work only with windows and microsoft calls it innovation and user-friendly.

It's not their fault for that though. Any OS with a 90%+ marketshare will have jerks motivated to exploit suckers with its flaws for personal gain.
