glabels is in the repos and lets you make cd/dvd labels.
this is fine so long as you dont want to import a picture.
in the help it says you can copy/paste pictures
well i have tried jpeg, png, gif, tiff, bmp, you name it, it wont work
anyone got any ideas how to do get this to work or is there anything else that does the same thing that will let you import pictures??

Bump.
I hope someone can provide a hint that would let this guy and, yes, others, to use Glabels as it was intended to be used.
Thanks for your patience in this matter.

I have found this peculiarity in Ubuntu also. However, try dragging and dropping the file instead of the copy/paste approach. It is really an odd bug in Ubuntu but common for certain programs, e.g. Thunderbird.

OK.
I downloaded Glabels and gave it a try. It is pretty unintuitive as to getting an image (for instance) on a CD or DVD label. However, I did manage to actually do what I think the OP wanted.
After selecting a template (or creating your own), then select the Objects, Create, Image command and use your mouse cursor to describe a box. The box is filled with a checkerboard pattern. You can resize this box, move it and change its horizontal to vertical proportions.
In the "Image object properties" dialog box that displays to the right, you can browse for the desired image. Select the image file, click open and it appears in the image box.
Its a little obscure as far as usage and documentation, but you can make it work. I printed a test DVD label and it printed out OK. If I continue to use this app, I'll make my own templates though.
Good luck stinger30au.

i finally managed to get this picture inserted in just like what was stated by Michael Dooley
but i had to open / close the program about 6 times before it would bring the picture in
i could draw the box on the screen and it would make a dark coloured box and i could select the file and then it would not import it
no errors
nothing
just take me back and look at the cd label again
silly thing
anyhow, i managed to get out what i needed that was the main thing
thanks all
