Hello there.

I have this problem with my speakers that don't mute when I plug in my earphones. I know, this is a known issue and I have googled it! Has anyone any idea how to fix this bug or whatever it may be? I want my headphones to mute the speakers on the laptop just like they do when running Vista - so that I wont look like a fool again when I listen to music wearing earphones on the train unknowing that the music also was played on the speakers like today (yes, it was darn awkward!).

that's pretty much it,

peace!

I have the same issue. On one forum, they said to type alsamixer into terminal, and you could use your left and right arrows and the M key to mute. It seemed to work for everyone else in the forum, so try that. Didn't work for me though. When I do this, the only two options there are MASTER and PCM, which, when I play with them, do the exact same thing. The volume goes up and down. I'm a bit stumped as well.
