hello, i am trying to play encrypted dvds with mplayer.

I have mplayer, libdvdcss2 libdvdread, ubuntu-restricted-extras, w32codecs
all installed

i can play encrypted DVDs with totem - but I dislike totem and want to be rid of it.

When i try to open a DVD with mplayer I get the following error:

Seek failed!

Please advise a solution?

Have you tried VLC? It hasn't failed to play a video for me yet. Why do you dislike Totem if it does what you want it to do? I guess it comes down to personal preference though. I only use VLC over Totem because on a few TV shows I have the sound comes out really choppy in Totem, but VLC it sounds fine.

Me too. I prefer also VLC player.

Sounds like that the DVD is not properly mounted.

I like using OGMrip (which is bundled with Mplayer) Im just trying to limit the number of applications I have. I have 2 movie players... whats the point in that>!
