Hey everyone

I'm completely new to blender and GIMP, I know nothing of how to use them but would like to learn, so rather than get tutorials online I figured a book would be better as I don't particularly enjoy reading tons of pages off the PC. I'm looking for good books that teach the fundamentals in GIMP and books that do the same for Blender, I basically want to know the basics as well as some advanced things if possible.
If anyone can recommend some good books on the two programs that'd be great and I'd be most thankful.

Also I'm not sure if this is in the proper section so sorry if it isn't

For GIMP, you should take a look at "Beginning GIMP: from novice to professoinal" (http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-GIMP-Novice-Professional-Second/dp/1430210702/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1245273867&sr=1-1), Second Edition by Akkana Peck.

Hmm after looking at reviews on amazon and on other sites this looks like a good book thanks :D . Does anyone know any books for blender that are good though? I looked over some but I would prefer some recommendations.

Thanks I will probably be using videos for some harder to do stuff or for things I don't understand but for the most part I want books due to a lot of down time that I have in which I unfortunately do not have the access to Internet.
